Call 317-940-9640 to set up an audition, open to any boy or girl in grades 4-7 who loves to sing. Once accepted, rehearsals are 6-7 p.m. Mondays starting Oct. 5 at Greenfield-Central High School. Everyone is familiar with cars. Whether you are a car buff who can take an engine completely apart and put it back together or a casual driver who just wants to run to the store now and then, cars are everywhere. Let me make a proposal to you. Let's say there is a new car company out there, and they want you to buy their cars. And boy do they have a deal for you. For the record, I'd be saying nice things about the Indianapolis Civic Theatre's production of "Evita" even if there wasn't a Daily Reporter employee in the cast. But if you look closely at the chorus singers and dancers, you may recognize Reporter police beat writer Noelle Steele in their midst. She relates to me that she is having a wonderful time sharing the stage with this talented ensemble. As time passes, Generation X men find themselves looking back at regrets, opportunities wasted and wondering if they will be wise before they become old -- much like the Baby Boomers before them, in plays and movies like "The Big Chill." Blair Singer's comedy "The Most Damaging Wound," on stage at the Phoenix Theatre in Indianapolis through Sept. 26, tackles this issue brilliantly, with heart and moments of roll-in-the-aisles hilarity. With all the hype about President Obama speaking to the American Youth. I would like to hear your opinion on whether you believe that his message is appropriate for for the demographic. You can watch video of the speech at the bottom of the Reporter's home page on 09-08-09 at 12:00 pm (EST). http://www.greenfieldreporter.com After watching the speech, I would like to invite you to come back and give your opinion. Heath Friar We can argue about health care reform until we turn blue in the face but the fact remains, we must pass health care reform for the sake of the nation. Health care costs are out of whack and unsustainable. With Americans spending $1 in every $6 on health care related expenses are economy has been damaged and our industries made less competitive in a global market. If current trends go unabated, by 2050, 40% of the American economy will be consumed by health care. (This being a quick look at "Seven Brides for Seven Brothers" at Beef & Boards, as well as the just-announced 2010 season.) Put simply, if you liked the classic movie musical "Seven Brides for Seven Brothers," you'll also like the stage version playing on Indy's northwest side. This is kinda short notice, especially for the @ Your Leisure page, which comes out on Thursday afternoon. So, taken from the press release I received: The Indy Jazz Fest Education program is in full swing. On Thursday, Sept. 3, the Indy Jazz Fest Band takes up residence at the Indianapolis Children’s Museum's Lilly Theater for the Target Free Family Night. The band will perform three 30-minute sets starting at 4:15pm. Reviewed herein: Fringe Next, 55 minutes, Tortillo, Blunder Construction, Big Angry Booty The numbers are in on the Indianapolis Theatre Fringe Festival: While exact attendance is impossible to measure, 11,470 tickets were issued and $85,000 was distributed to the performers. Consider that money amount as coming from thousands of 7-10 dollar tickets ($10 is standard rate, $7 for kids, and tickets as part of a "fiver" package come to $8 each), it all adds up to another successful event, which should continue and grow for next year. ...but then, this gives you something to look forward to for next year's festival (and the Fringe Fridays between now and then, keep checking back with IndyFringe.org for details).
